PRAY MEMPHIS
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray . . .
-
We are a group of people, currently from Mosaic Church but open to God expanding our reach and fellowship with others with the same vision. We are praying consistently on a weekly basis for the city of Memphis. Our focus in prayer is the transformational power of Jesus - the fact that to change the city, individual people need to be changed and transformed through a new birth in Him.
-
By praying in houses, parks, public spaces, universities, and other locations all over the city.
-
We are focused on specific issues in prayer, including:
The need for Christian laborers to reach people where they are in our city.
Addressing the deeply rooted spiritual opposition to peace and the message of Christ we find present in Memphis
The need for us in our own lives to pursue and recognize the opportunities God gives us to reach into lives around us with the message of Jesus
The Matthew 9 Vision
In Matthew 9, Jesus said, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” This is our prayer for Memphis. We believe change comes in our world when individuals are changed and transformed by Jesus - and that this is the only real way to bring peace and hope to our communities. Jesus also said, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you.” So that’s what we are doing. We are asking, consistently with His word, and in conformity with His will, that this city be challenged with the message of love and hope that is found in Jesus, that it turn to Him, and that we see many, many people find the same life in Christ that we have found. Not simply that they find salvation, but that they find a new life, created for good works in Christ Jesus. That they become His followers (disciples) and join us in our mission.
Pray With Us
We are currently meeting to pray on Fridays from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and are committed to respecting everyone’s schedules by starting and finishing on time. Because of logistical limitations, we will be sending notices of location by email, and posting the locations on a passworded page on this site. There is no commitment requirement - we want you to come pray with us any time you can.
Please let us know if you:
Would like to join us for prayer, and want to be notified of where we are meeting each week. If you do not regularly attend Mosaic, please tell us a little about yourself.
Would like for us to come to your neighborhood or house to pray
Would like to be informed of what we are praying for weekly so that you can pray with us on your own
